G-Wagon Parts

Expedition Imports - Now merged with Eurotruck Importers. Now with Expedition, it is a full-service parts site for Unimogs and G-Wagons. Exceptionally fast shipping and excellent web site for ordering.

FourByFour Club.com - Excellent selection of parts. OK pricing, super fast shipping, and OK customer service. Vlad is very good over the phone, but when he says he will issue a credit for returned merchandise, you may have to follow up to make sure you get your refund.

G-Wagon Accessories is a great source for late model off-road accessories specifically for G-Wagons. Great selection of bumpers, recovery gear, suspension, and wheels. Their primary focus is making your W463 look great rather than turning it onto an off-road wonder.

Ecklers Mercedes-Benz - My #1 source for parts for older Mercedes-Benz parts. They don't specifically carry parts for the W460 G-Wagon but many engine parts from the G-Wagon are the same as found in early MB cars. If you know what you want, this may be a good place to get parts.

Reinvent the Wheel - A great shop for OM617 Diesel engines, parts, and performance upgrades. They have a good shop that can do engine swaps for W640 and get you an OM617a TURBO. They also have a performance Bosh pump that will get better performance from any OM617.

Veteran Company - The best place I've found for original leather, carpet, headlining material, vinyl, and convertible canvas for foreign automobiles. These guys are knowledgeable, very helpful and the prices are amazing. If you are purchasing cut to order carpets, seats, or convertible tops the raw materials probably come from here. The web site is just OK, call them for the best service.

Front Runner - Great accessories for your G-Wagon. Put in your year and model and they will give you options. A great source for roof racks.

Services

Bill Rader Motorsports - This is a great shop located near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway that is an expert in Porsche gearbox prep. Bill is also a G-Wagen nut so he has developed a following with people that want the most off-road performance from their G's. Amazing builds including portal axels, lifts kits, and amazing off-road capability. Check out the rock slider that features a retractable sidestep.

Sun Valley Mercedes Transmissions - Excellent resource for anyone needing work on a Mercedes-Benz automatic transmission. Very impressive shop, fair pricing, and quick service.

Muller's Burbank Mercedes - Walter Muller runs one of the best Mercedes auto shops I've been to. He is honest, quick, does GREAT work and his prices are very good. I've had work done with good independent Mercedes shops in three states and Walter is one of the best anywhere. No web site so: 1617 North San Fernando Boulevard, Burbank, CA 91504 (818) 845-8775

Revolution Mercedes-Benz Specialists - In Decatur GA, it is a very nice and well equipped independent shop. When I got my 280SL, they did extensive preliminary mechanical work. They also maintained our 1990 300E for over 15 years with fair pricing and only did the work necessary.

Maintenance Guides

DieselGiant.com- Has great tips on maintaining, tuning, and updating just about any diesel engine. He has a page dedicated to Mercedes-Benz OM617 engines found in the older G-Series.

Mercedes Source - very good resource for anything mechanical on early Mercedes-Benz cars. Absolutely nothing on the W460 but if you want maintenance tips on just about any early MB engines or transmissions that are used in the G-Wagons this site might have the answer. Just be prepared to pay, almost nothing on this site is free. The how-to guides I've purchased are very wordy but contain good and detailed information.
